Why do we work with partner organisations?

At Calderdale & Kirklees Careers we work in partnership with a number of organisations to ensure we can:

  • meet the needs of our customers
  • deliver the best services possible
  • improve access to our services by providing them on an outreach basis at partner premises or co-working through our Connexions Centres
  • by improving systems, which enable partners to refer their customers to our services.

Who are our partners?

We work extensively with other providers including Youth Support Services, Education Social Workers/Welfare, Social Services, the local authorities, Youth Justice Services, Jobcentre Plus, voluntary organisations, training providers and a network of guidance providers, locally and across West Yorkshire to bring together a network of services for our customers.

We are also members of local Connexions Management Committees where local organisations work together to provide joined-up services to young people between the ages of 13 and 19, which is how some of our more innovative partnerships have come about.

At Calderdale & Kirklees Careers we are one of the founding members of Careers West Yorkshire, an organisation that has the contract from the Learning and Skills Council to provide adult information, advice and guidance (IAG) services through the nextstep West Yorkshire Partnership. The other members of Careers West Yorkshire are Careers Bradford Ltd, igen Ltd (Leeds) and Guidance Services Ltd. The Regional TUC also provides a board director. Take a look at the mission statement (29.9kb Adobe Acrobat) for providing information, advice and guidance across West Yorkshire.

We also make it possible for partners to offer their services on our premises where those services meet the needs of our customers. These include:

  • Streetscene and the SHAP Housing Advice Service in Huddersfield Connexions Centre
  • the co-location of the Information Shop for Young People (Calderdale Primary Care Trust) in the Halifax Connexions Centre. Calderdale Voluntary Action also provides advice on volunteering for people of all ages. For more information contact Nadine at the Information Shop on 01422 330033.
