Every year our Work-based Services Team organise over 7,500 work experience placements for school and college students in both Calderdale and Kirklees. Work experience is part of the school curriculum and is important to a young person’s education and helps develop confidence and communication skills.

We have our own database of employers kind enough to offer young people an opportunity to experience the world of work for no charge. Employer liaison officers visit companies to ensure that they are suitable placements for work experience. They check health and safety, insurance cover and the programme and supervision, which will be provided to young people on work experience. This work is funded by the Learning & Skills Council.

Information from this database is available to schools so that they can be sure that pupils are going into a quality assured placement. Most schools ask us to match pupils to placements on their behalf and pay us to do so.
