PAs from Calderdale & Kirklees
Careers act as the named PA for most young people in
compulsory education in Calderdale and Kirklees. During
the school year, our PAs contact young people individually or in groups. We offer:
- Personal Adviser (PA) in every school
- additional support for young people at risk
- specialist careers information
PAs and school staff undertake
a holistic assessment of need for each young person
in the cohort. Young people are identified for additional
support in Year 11 if they are considered at risk of
not entering employment, education or training. Those identified for additional support are
prioritised for one-to-one guidance. Those not considered
at risk are seen in small groups and are offered the
opportunity to request a one-to-one interview.
PAs are all professionally trained
to provide specialist careers information and advice
on post-16 options. As part of this PAs will discuss
with young people how their personal circumstances affect
their choices. Young people with serious barriers to
progression will be referred to other specialist PAs
where appropriate.
